Finger Foods

Emily ate her first solid food today: tissue! She loves pulling them out of the box and shredding them into teeny tiny pieces. This morning she moved too fast for us and popped a piece in her mouth. Dad wasn't able to fish it out, so down the shoot it went. Then this evening I made the mistake of letting her play with another tissue (silly mama!) and she quickly shoved a fistful into her mouth. I got most of it, but unfortunately not all.

On the bright side, her dexterity and hand-eye coordination are getting better!!

milestone

Today, I crawled over to the TV remote for my Mom. It was tough work, but I made it. Dad took a short video of me and will try to post it soon. All that crawling wore me out, so I'm off to bed. Have a good night!

where I eat

I got a new seat for eating!

I like peas (and sweet potatoes and squash). I don't like green beans.

I love yogurt and I still love oats!

bath time!

Emily is now big enough that she doesn't need the little infant bathtub hammock. Fortunately, she still fits in our sink!

tight fit

I was promised that this crib would fit me until I'm a toddler. What gives?

I'm an excellent parallel parker.

giddy up!

No problem with Emily falling in this set up. She chokes us with her feet and tightly grabs our hair.

Week 1: Daycare

After 7 amazing months at home with Emily, she's starting daycare. We feel so blessed to have had Aunt Becky and Grammy Peterson help us stretch our time at home with Em this long, but now we must venture out into the unknown world of daycare.

After a long and diligent search this fall, we're pretty confident we found her a good spot at Hope's Daycare. Still that first morning, when we had to kiss her good-bye and leave her in the arms of a stranger, was tough. Very tough. But she endured like a trooper. When we picked her up that afternoon she was in good spirits and got a rave review from Hope. Having been prepared to hear she didn't eat, sleep, or play very much (which we've been told is common) we were thrilled to find that she did in fact eat, sleep and play normally. Apparently she got a little fussy when Hope left the room, but other than that Em was a superstar. Her second day there was equally successful, so hopefully week #2 goes just as smoothly!
