On Our Own

Had a successful first week alone as a family of 4. Up until last week we'd had guests every few days to help out, but Grammy and Grampy Peterson's departure left us on our own. Thankfully Emily was feeling much better, and Charlotte never came down with anything.

Here are a few things we did during this first week:

Mommy had her first outing alone with both girls. And it was a HUGE success!! We grabbed brunch in the neighborhood and then went to the library. Turns out Emily likes Amelia Bedelia :)

Charlotte took her first BART and MUNI rides with Mumma to walk around downtown (just realized Em has yet to ride either one...)

11 hours



I slept for 11 hours straight last night - yippeeeeeeeee!!

Peterson's Visit!

We were lucky enought to get another set of visitors in late August. Our daycare was closed for a week's vacation, so we asked Matt's parents if they could come and help out. Luckily they were free! As it turned out, it was a double blessing that they were here because Emily came down with a virus that hit her really hard. Despite Em's sad state, Grammy and Grampy still managed to have lots of fun with the girls.

1 Month Check-Up

Yesterday Charlotte had her 1 month check-up. She's doing great, and getting bigger by the day. She's now 22 inches long and weighs 11lbs 2oz. That's the 90th and 95th percentiles. Wowza.

Her doctor said she'll soon be tracking things with her eyes (already is), coo-ing & smiling (ditto, we just have yet to catch it on camera), and holding her head up for long chunks of time (she's been doing that since birth). All of this only further perpetuates my belief that she was born 2 weeks old.

And to commemorate her 4 week birthday last night Charlotte slept from 8pm until 2:30am, and then after eating she went right back to sleep until 8am. Ya-hoo!!! We know it was probably a fluke, but we'll take it!

From our extensive house preparations for Charlotte's arrival to our 3 day hospital stay when she was born, Emily's had quite a hectic spring and summer. And while we tried to maintain consistency and stability in Em's world, some days she got less attention than usual. Fortunately, Emily's blessed with a wonderful aunt who lives in SF and has become a second mama to her. We don't know what we would have done without you throughout all this, Aunt B!!! You made the transition to big sister much easier on Em, that's for sure.

Here they are together celebrating Becky's birthday last weekend - which she let Emily fully participate in by blowing out candles and unwrapping gifts. And unlike Em's b-day this year, we were allowed to sing "happy birthday" to Becky which was a treat :)

Visitors!

Charlotte was lucky enough to get visitors before she was even a week old! Her summer arrival allowed Grandpa & Grandma G to come out and see her before starting their school years. Yay! We tried to take a lot of family shots, but with Charlotte so sleepy and Em still not having fully mastered a smile-on-command, here's what we got.
